The Journal of Network and Computer Applications welcomes research contributions, surveys and notes in all areas relating to computer networks and applications thereof. The following list of sample-topics is by no means to be understood as restricting contributions to the topics mentioned:

  • new design techniques, interesting or novel applications, components or standards

  • computer networks with tools such as WWW

  • emerging standards for internet protocols

  • Wireless networks

  • Mobile Computing

  • emerging computing models such as cloud computing, grid computing

  • emerging network protocols such as sensor networks, delay tolerant networks, Internet of things

  • applications of networked systems for remote collaboration and telemedicine

  • applications of an educational, transactional and cooperational nature

  • applications of security in computer and networks

Tip for TestGen test bank downloads: It's easier to find your test banks later if you save them to the TestGen folder on your computer. Because test bank downloads are in compressed format, you will need to expand the ZIP or SIT files after downloading.

On some operating systems, if your browser recognizes that the application needed for viewing this type of file is already installed on your computer (for example, Adobe Acrobat Reader to view a PDF file), the file may open automatically in the browser window once the download is complete.

To view, print, expand, or otherwise work with downloaded instructor resources, a particular type of viewer or application may need to be installed on your computer. Each downloadable file includes a label of its format type, such as PDF file, to the right of its link name.

If you are using Mac OS X or newer, you do not need any extra software to extract these files. Simply download the file to your computer, locate the file, and double-click the icon. The Finder will create a new folder with the same name as the archive file and decompress all the files from the archive in that folder.

Compressed download files will expand to a larger size. If you download a compressed file (such as .ZIP or .SIT), the expanded native file will likely be significantly larger. For example, a compressed TestGen test bank that is 3 MB can be 12 MB when unzipped/unstuffed to its native .BOK format on your computer.

TestGen is a computerized test generation program, available exclusively from Pearson. You install TestGen on your personal computer (Windows or Macintosh) and create your own tests for classroom testing and for other specialized delivery options, such as over a local area network or on the web. A test bank, which is also called a Test Item File (TIF), typically contains a large set of test items, organized by chapter and ready for your use in creating a test, based on the associated textbook material.

Comprehensive test banks accompany many of the textbooks from Pearson, and in many cases they are TestGen test banks. To download a test bank, search for your textbook in this catalog. Once on the textbook's product page, click on the Resources tab and look for the TestGen test bank title. The download time varies depending on the size of the test bank.

Once you have installed the TestGen application, you can open the TestGen file for your textbook. If you have not done so already, use the search box or browse our catalog to find your textbook. Depending on your browser, you can either open or download these files by clicking on them. On a PC, if you right click the link, you will see a menu with a choice that says "Save link as" or "Save target as." Use this option to save the file to your computer.

From your textbook's product page in this catalog, click the TestGen test bank title for your computer's platform. (You will be required to provide your username and password at this point if you have not already signed in.) The test bank is compressed for the platform you selected. You will need to uncompress it using WinZip, StuffIt, or a similar program. (See Expanding .ZIP or .SIT compressed files for download links.)

  • "Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand."Chinese proverb One's understanding of network protocols can often be greatly deepened by "seeing protocols in action" andby "playing around with protocols" - observing the sequence of messages exchanges between two protocol entities, delving down into the details of protocol operation, and causing protocols to perform certain actions and thenobserving these actions and their consequences. This can be done in simulated scenarios or in a "real" network environmentsuch as the Internet. The Java applets in the textbook Web site take the first approach. In these Wireshark labs,we'll take the latter approach. You'll be running various network applications in different scenarios using a computeron your desk, at home, or in a lab. You'll observe the network protocols in your computer "in action," interacting andexchanging messages with protocol entities executing elsewhere in the Internet. Thus, you and your computer will bean integral part of these "live" labs. You'll observe, and you'll learn, by doing. The basic tool for observing the messages exchanged between executing protocol entities is called a packet sniffer. As the name suggests, a packet sniffer passively copies ("sniffs") messages being sent from and received by your computer;it will also display the contents of the various protocol fields of these captured messages. For these labs, we'll usethe Wireshark packet sniffer. Wireshark is a free/shareware packet sniffer(a follow-on to the earlier Ethereal packet sniffer) that runs on Windows, Linux/Unix, and Mac computers. The Wiresharklabs below will allow you to explore many of the Internet most important protocols. We're making these Wireshark labs freely available to all (faculty, students, readers). They're available in bothWord and PDF so you can add, modify, and delete content to suit your needs. They obviously represent alot of work on our part. In return for use, we only ask the following: If you use these labs (e.g., in a class) that you mention their source (after all, we'd like people to use our book!)

  • If you post any labs on a www site, that you note that they are adapted from (or perhaps identical to) our labs, and note our copyright of this material.

Solutions to these Wireshark labs are available for course instructors only from the publisher(not from the authors) - see our instructors' page for information about howto get a solution, either standalone or for an LMS.The version 8.1 Wireshark labs have been significantly modernized and updated in 2021, and come with new Wiresharktraces files taken in 2021. Click on the links below to download a Wireshark lab on the given topic.

Although the error message suggests that the issue is with "a network," this is not always the case. So, let's check out what causes the "Chrome download failed network error" and explore all possible solutions.

It's highly likely that this Chrome download network error is caused by your computer's antivirus program. That's because most antivirus programs include traffic monitoring features such as HTTPS scanning. These features help protect your PC against malware hidden behind secured and encrypted websites.

To check if an extension is responsible for this error, enable incognito mode. This will disable all third-party extensions and allow you to browse privately. From there, retry your download and check if the "failed - network error when downloading in chrome" issue persists. 2ff7e9595c
